A well-performed extraction does two things. It removes the tooth cleanly. And it prepares the site for whatever comes next — whether that’s healing naturally, a bone graft, or an implant placement down the track.
What’s involved
We extract simple single-rooted teeth, partially erupted and impacted wisdom teeth, and teeth positioned close to the inferior alveolar nerve. For complex cases, we use 3D CBCT imaging to map root structure and nerve position precisely before we begin.
After every extraction, we place Gelatemp — a hemostatic agent — in the socket to control bleeding and support blood clot formation. Where needed, we use resorbable sutures. We prioritise preserving the buccal bone — the outer wall of the socket — particularly where future implant placement is being considered. Once lost, this structure requires bone grafting to restore.
We check on you after the extraction. If the site is slow to heal, develops dry socket, or needs granulation tissue managed, come back in. Follow-up palliative care is included at no extra charge.

Most patients feel back to normal within two to four days. Impacted wisdom teeth and more complex cases can take five to seven days before soreness settles. The socket continues healing over several weeks in the background. We’ll tell you specifically what to expect for your case before you leave the chair.
It depends on which tooth and where the gap sits. Front teeth and load-bearing back teeth should almost always be replaced — gaps affect how neighbouring teeth move and how the bite functions over time. An implant is usually the best long-term replacement for a single missing tooth. We discuss replacement options at the same appointment so you leave with a full picture.
Dry socket occurs when the blood clot that forms after an extraction is lost before the socket heals, causing a dull persistent ache — typically two to four days after the procedure. If this happens, come back in. We clean the socket, address any granulation tissue, and apply a medicated dressing. This is included in your aftercare at no extra charge.
